Title: Cam lobe wear -00 TC-B
Post by: xlfan on January 26, 2021, 03:18:03 AM
Does this lobe wear call for new cams? It looks like the hardened surfaces is worn through. I wonder what effect this has had for the tappet rollers.

I would replace it.  The stock cam I pulled out of my bike looked far worse than that though.  Mine had a literal valley where the tappet roller contacted the lobe that you could see and feel with your finger big time.  Oddly enough the roller on the lifter looked ok but after looking at both your pics (including the retaining plate  showing spun bearings) and my own experience I would not even consider putting a stock setup back in.  This is why I went to conversion cams and support them so much (properly hardened cams and no bearings in that plate to fail, JMO)

Yes, and the lifter/roller as well.
Is that cam stock?

It is a stock cam and they rode on stock inner bearings as well. Around 50' miles.
