in Palmer's book he says that the 41 frame neck was deliberately bent to 28 degrees. How exactly did they do this, at the back bone? My frame has a downword bend at the backbone but nothing else is crooked or bent or cut. Its straight....
Palmer doesn't say it was bent to 28 degrees. On pages 29 and 31 he says the early-1941 frame was bent from 28° to 29°.
There have been several discussions about this on other forums including AMCA and CAI and I posted links below although some photos are no longer there. You'll also notice more than one opinion regarding how the change in angle occurred. I myself do not know the answer.
Palmer is currently working on a new, updated and corrected version of the 37-64 book but we do not know when it will be published.

Thnx. That makes more since. I thought I had remembered the early 41 frames were 28 degree. Been awhile since I have read Palmers book. I guess the slight bend on the backbone forward close to the neck is from something else. Further investigation required. thnx again,,,
