Title: S&S 550C Cam compatibility with SE CNC Ported Cylinder Heads
Post by: francodipa on January 23, 2021, 12:23:40 AM
Does anyone know if a Screamin' Eagle Milwaukee-Eight Engine CNC Ported Cylinder Heads with Performance Valve Springs (part of a SE Stage IV #92500073 with SE8-515 Cam) will support S&S 550C cam without having to change Valve Springs?

From their instructions "This kit will work with lifts up to 13.75 mm (0.540 in) and up to 6500 rpm", and still have the recommended .060" clearance.
Are you safe with .010" less clearance? You still have to check V-V and V-P, so measure twice, as they say...

Yes, just went through that with another cam that had some substantial TDC lifts, fixed
The S&S 550 has some huge exhaust TDC numbers, .232 & .264" with 273 and 278 exhaust duration,

Those exhaust numbers are what give the 550 such a wonderful H-D lope sound..

It is an S&S 128" Power Pack for a 2018 FXFBS. As soon as I'll have finished installing and tuning I will post the dyno numbers and impressions
