Title: QC Issue?
Post by: fleetmechanic on February 06, 2021, 03:11:45 PM
My dealer tech sent me these photos of a 2020 M8  with 7 miles on it that was about to be delivred to the buyer.  Lots noise caused by the guts of the ACR falling into the cylinder.

I'd say QC at the O2 manufacturer more than the MOCO.  Maybe negligent parts sourcing to save money?  Who makes them? Would it be reasonable to trust the manufacturer?

I'd hope they pull the other head.
Guarantee crap migrated thru the intake to the other cylinder.

That whole engine needs to come out and go into the trash bin. If it split a piston like that it also shocked every bearing in that crankshaft/balancer assembly. I sure wouldnt want it.  Bob

Seen that a couple times. As well as the ACR's literally burning to non recognisable globs.

As mentioned, no way I take delivery of that bike without a whole new motor. That thing is hurt!

I'd agree...and not much point in putting rags around the hole there....That bottom end would be coming open. It might still have a future as a reman. crate engine.
