Title: Vibration
Post by: HogMike on September 19, 2021, 07:29:11 AM
Club member has a 2014 Switchback, bone stock.
Complaining of excessive vibration at 80 mph.
Someone said it was the heavy stock muffler hanging way past the mounting point causing the vibration?

I haven't seen it yet but looking at recommendations what to watch out for.

Any help he would appreciate I'm sure.

Google "switchback clevis pin mod".

For additional reference, Harley also released service bulletin M1324 "Dyna Model Motorcycle Vibration" that has some suggestions like removing material from the front motor isolator and reversing the mounting hardware for the jiffy stand, but I never had to do any of that on my 2010 FXDC. If I remember correctly that SB is available in "the section" here, might be on the Harley SIP too.

The Switchbacks were known for that vibration when they were first introduced and the clevis pin mod was the generally accepted fix.

Thanks, I'll let him know!

I'll probably have to do it for him, he's a charter member, I'm a peon.
