Hey all, I'm looking to get more out of my build and want to swap out my Feuling 574 cams as I'm not too impressed with the performance of them and I'm looking for more tq and midrange, 2300-5200 rpm. I have 03 Night Train with 98" S&S, S&S cam chest kit, S&S 79cc superstock heads, S&S 52mm TB w/ 5.12 grams/sec at 58 psi fuel injectors, Arlen Ness Monster Sucker, Rinehart Crossbacks and tuning with PV. I was looking at the 3 cams mentioned in the subject line and I would really appreciate some feedback and I'm up to other suggestions also. Thanks
Happen to know what your static compression is or CCP?
If setting the squeeze at 10.3, then the 6H will push the torque, hard, if looking for that.
I'll be around 10.5-10.8 and ccp will be around 205
at 10.8 , maybe the woods TW8G , they are great cams , but a little noisy sometimes or maybe the TMAN 625 Cam if still around
I liked the Tw8G , low overlap quick ramps I ran it in a 116" got 132/140 but it was a little short for the 116" so went to TW9BG + 2 , works well .
just my opinion though there are a lot of cams out there now , but that 8G sure worked well
That's bigger than I want to go, I'm looking more for lower end tq and some midrange, not hp or a cam that peaks at 5-6k, but thanks for your opinion

My favorite cam for 10.8-11:1. Hit's early, stays late and the valve train is very quiet.

That's funny you suggest that cam cause I was looking at some dyno sheets and reviews on the CR595 and tried looking for somewhere I could pirchase them but I can't find em for 99'-06' twin cam, only for 07'-up. Do you by chance know who might carry them and do they even come in the older " silent chain " style for my 03'? Thanks

I was told by a tech at tman you could run this up to 11.1:1.
Forget that CR595 there are way better cams for low end torque in a 98 motor. Andrews 57, CR 570 to name a couple.

Very early. My 2003 RK is at 10.85 and it rips down low and carries out to the red line.

Curious. Have you ever ridden a bike set up @ 10.8-11:1 with CR-595's ?
After tuning and riding builds of varying CID with the CR-595's, I have found quite the opposite to be true.
What would be the difference between the .590 woods 6H, the tr590 and the CR595 for the 98" (assuming they're all set up correctly)??

I have the new version 590ps in my slim, it's somewhere between 10.2-10.5, must measure it one-day, goes well, that woods 6 is a good cam though, right comp and supporting components it fair rips, the newer cam profiles might be a bit harder to find for your early model dyna(edit, Softail) as I'm sure you have already figured out.

That dyno is for a 110 not a 98 as the OP has. Huge difference, the CR595 will be a dog in that 98 down low.

That dyno is for a 110 not a 98 as the OP has. Huge difference, the CR595 will be a dog in that 98 down low.
The graph shows the broad curve that these cams make in no matter what cubic inch engine so long as they are set up correctly.
There is a link to a 98" dyno thread with these cams just a couple posts above.
Remember that all aspects including exhaust need to be addressed to make any cam work.

Actually I've been really looking at that Tman 625 after I did some more research on it as I didn't know the Intake Closes at 41, but wouldn't I then have to run roller rockers with a .625 lift?
Also, anyone have any experience with Revtech roller rockers or Sifton? Yea I know, and trust me I want to go with S&S but funds are running a bit low after cam swap & head work as I'm having a house built and need to start putting money away for dp, but I don't wanna cheap out too much, just something cheaper that will holdme over for a year or two and then I'll put S&S rollers in. Thanks all
I might cheap out on some chrome covers, maybe even exhaust. The idea of cheaping out on valve train parts would give me heart palpitations.
After I spent the money on S&S rollers I was told by GB@Star I didn't need them for my 635 cams..
While the TR625 is a very good cam, I don't believe it's the cure for your power search. Unless there is mechanical issues, ( Cam timing off, exhaust gasket pushed completely into the port, etc) I believe the Crossbacks are the restriction in this equation, and lack of exhaust volume may be holding you back. Any chance you know some buddy with an old V&H Pro Pipe you could borrow for testing?

No I don't, but I was thinking about purchasing Bassani Road Rage 2 as I can get them for under $600. I heard that was a good pipe? I'm just concerned about how they sound, I've heard they're loud and also that they aren't, does anyone know about this exhaust?

My 03 FXD is 95in. 10.5-1, Mondello heads and I have the Wood TW8G Plenty of low end and winds out awesome. I love it
I'll put another vote in for the Wood 8 have it in my 05 110 build with GMR heads and 55 mm HPI tbody. An awesome tune by GMR ran off at 134 hp and 125 tq and is fun as hell to ride

I have a set of Wood 6 HG cams kicking around my shop somewhere that I removed from a buddys 98 incher when he couldn't stand the noise of them anymore. The thing would just about pull your shoulders out of the sockets from a dead stop with the way he had it geared but man oh man was it ever noisy LOL.

3.37 geared torque-monster.
Carb conversion.
Very quiet valve train....customer mentioned that it was quieter than prior to the build.
The woods 6 is a great cam, but with 10.6 static comp, I expect they will ping. Better to choose something with later close.
