Hi folks,

The bike is a 2011 Road Glide, 96 w/ stock heads, Arlen Ness naked a/c, Fuel Moto e-series 2-1 running all 15 discs, Thundermax tuner.

I recently installed Andrews 48H cams. Tried some of the canned maps; #317, #328, #316, and settled on #315 as the bike seems smoothest with this one. The problem is in the low rpm ranges; the bike's acceleration goes flat from 2k-2.4k rpm and it feels rough when decelerating from 2k rpms down. It starts easily, hot or cold, idles fine, and has good power off idle until it goes flat at 2k, then takes off great after 2.4k and pulls through 5k-ish. No popping/coughing. Not sure, but it also seems to be running a bit hotter than before the cams.
I know how to go in and make adjustments to the map, just don't know the logic of where to start (timing, AFR, both..). I have played a little with advancing the timing in the <3k rpm bands, but not seeing too much change in performance.
I would really appreciate any/all suggestions and tia!

Did you try ThunderMax ?      When I used one years ago they would provide me with a cam profile to match my cam to cams on their map list.           Coff 06

:agree: They have always been a great help for me. They will probably want you to run a test and send it to them. Don't remember how but it is in the paperwork.

Yes; I did a data collection and sent the map to Thundermax; they sent me a modified map, but the problem was still there. Honestly, I haven't asked them to look at it again, and just figured I could make the right adjustments. I guess I could do that again

You are too lean in that area from 2000 to 2500.  I think T Max uses map/kpa there.  Either way richen up that area from cruise to WOT at least 10 %. Most autotunes will lean that area too much.  I hear people say it is the cams causing it, but those 48's shouldn't be flat anywhere.  It will likely be in the high 90's to low 100's when you get it right.  Won't hurt to just go to around 100. The WOT VE from 2750 to 3500 was around 110.  As for timing the cruise area at 2000 will be around 30 to 32 and WOT around 16 to 20.  At 2500 around 35 to 38 and WOT 20 to 22.  By 3000 timing should be around 18 and may have to be even lower and by 6000 14 will be fine.  You have wide bands and may want to check the AFR tables.  The acceleration area around 12.5 should be good and the WOT around 12.8.  The decel jumping can be around 13.5 which is in the 25 to 35Kpa area or 5 to 10 TP area if using Throttle position.  Need to make VE's in 80 to 90's in decel area.  You said running hotter than normal.  That can be timing in the cruise area.  Cruise area is 30 to 55 kpa or 10 to 20 TP from 2000 to 3500.  Timing at 2000 around 30 to 32 and up to atleast 35 by 2500 and on up to 40 or 42 in the 3500 range in cruise area.  Too lean will do this too.  A starting point for AFR would be around 14 until lined out then can go to what ever you want.  I am running wide bands and running at 15 in cruise, but have wet head. With that cam the VE will be around low 90's in the 2000 rpm 40 to 60 Kpa by 2500 mid to high 90's and by 3500 in the low to mid 110's.  These are from a 13 touring with 96 and 48cams and 2 in 1 and widebands and tuned using datalog and MegaLog viewer. I had the T Max software on my old laptop but didn't put it on new one.  I will send you my email in PM and if you want you can email me with your email and I can give you some screen shots of where the bike wound up on timing and VE's and AFR.  If I remember right the Power Vision and T Max are very similar as far as scales of tables.

Thanks for all this info KE5, this is what I was hoping to find; appreciate your time to write this. I will make adjustments following these recommendations tomorrow while I have some time for test runs. Yes, I have heard the 48s have a nice linear pull, one of the reasons I went with them, so I will stick with them. Looking forward to trying these changes, thanks again!

If looking at canned maps I would try 365, maybe add 10% fuel then run it and see what if feels like , when I did mine I ended up doing the global 10% to start with and it helped ,

Thank you. Did you make any changes to timing?
