Title: '88 XLH1200 rear end remodel
Post by: cyclobutch on February 08, 2021, 06:23:18 AM
Doing some work at the back end of my bike at the moment. Got the mudguard, rear light, indicators and assorted bracketry all off for the first time since it left the factory. Alloy brackets that run from pretty much the top of the shock top back to the indicator mountings are both broken through. I'll likely be streamlining things back there, but the rear tubes are formed concave at their ends, and then the alu plates cover them. I don't want to cut the frame but I need something to cover here and that will help support the guard (sorry - fender). Any idea what they are called so I can check out what's available on line? Any other recommendations? I'd presume there must be plenty of options.

Thanks.

Any idea what they are called

Fender Support

59950-81 Support, rear fender, left
59951-81 Support, rear fender, right

1986-1990 XLH Models Parts Catalog (https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson.com/sip/content/document/view?id=5698&parameters=highlight%3Drear+fender)

Note, a new version was introduced for 1990 models.  And yet another new version for 1995 models (this version is "straight", not "curved" as the prior versions.)

Thanks for that info. LH side on mine was broken, now replaced with another.
