Question - was looking at the new Heritage Softtail and was told that the heads were oil cooled vs water.  Is the oil cooler for the heads the same oil supply as is running through the engine or is it a separate oil system?

It is the same oil.  It leaves the front of the cone, goes into the oil cooler above the voltage regulator and then is pumped up to the front exhaust valve seat.  From there it goes to the rear exhaust valve seat are and drops into the top of the oil tank with an external line running down the back of the rear cylinder.   It's mechanically identical to the liquid cooled system except there is no additional pump or lower fairing radiators.

The oil cooled has much larger oil pump on the pressure side than the wet head.  They also tend to run good bit Warmer on the oil/air cooled especially on the stage motors. Have noticed as much as 30 degrees warmer on the oil/air.  They do work well at slower speeds in town and such.  They actually cool off when slowing to 35 mph from 65 or so.  Not seen any issues with the Wet heads running hot.  Both will sump if run at high rpms for extended period.  When they sump they both will get hot.  The oil cooled run cooler with the high volume after market oil pumps.  At least that is what we  have seen on several stage motors. One of the oil cooled having issue had lower fairings.  Pulled fairings and cooled off 40 degrees.  Winter fairings and summer not.

Thank you all.  Thought it was the same oil but the salesperson danced around the question and never did say one way or the other.

Only read of 1 Softail sumping and don't think he knew for sure that's what it was. He traded it immediately
He said he didn't know what they did to fix it..

Patience is such a waste of time .

How much cooler and which one of two (S&S or Feuling)?  I'm attacking this demon on mine.
