Title: Cracked Engine Case
Post by: markymark on April 10, 2020, 10:35:01 AM
Our Svc. manage has a 2017 Street Glide with 22K. Seems as if the balancer chain guides broke, got wedged somehow, and cracked the engine case. Anyone ever heard of this before ? He is waiting to see if HD will goodwill some of it.

Like this ? I'm not sure what caused all this damage but IIRC, one of the bearings locked up.

Something happened obviously. But the balancer has no chain, is gear driven. Twincamzz picture demonstrates that.
Unrelated to failure it appears they are using a scissor gear on the balancer also to eliminate lash.

It has been an issue. But, more often than not the MoCo has covered them. Many out of warranty.

Twincamzz, just curious, do you know roughly how many miles on that one?
