Title: ultra tranny sprocket shift
Post by: chas on September 10, 2020, 01:38:33 PM
I have a screeching noise coming from primary, took it all apart and looks like the tranny sprocket deceided to shift towards the casing! the race had moved with it about an 1/8 of an inch! The belt ran scuff marks on the ww tire. Anybody know how or why this happened?

Sid the sprocket move on the shaft, or the whole shaft move to the right. You might have a bad bearing, or something wrong on the other end of the transmission. How much end play is there on the tranny main shaft?

Just came across this one, a couple of weeks old with no follow up, but...

Nothing on the other side of the transmission is going to affect the run position of the transmission sprocket.

The sprocket is mounted onto the main drive gear, against the spacer which is against the big ball bearing.

The big ball bearing would have to move in order for the sprocket to move toward the transmission, the narrow lip on the inside of the case could have been broken off...
