Can stock pushrods be used with the 551 in a 96"?
Thanks

Searched through this and couldn't find the answer. Would "bolt in" mean yes, or did I miss something?

They work with stock pushrods.

"Bolt-in" = compatible with all stock components, so, yes.
Since you're are saying 96", can we assume you're asking about a stock 96" (meaning 07 up)?
Your question made me scratch my head because I did a 551 in a 06 down 6 months ago and thought didn't those install sheets say they can't.
And This sheet (https://www.sscycle.com/docs/default-source/instruction-sheets/106-5893_early_gd_cams_20160405.pdf?sfvrsn=4) claims they can't
in 06 down.
Different valve springs in the 99-06 and the 07 up.
 The older twin cams 99-06 didnt they need the clearance checked and opened up in the cam chest for the lobes has well? Bob
Just put S&S 551 in 2010 96 inch Ultra. S&S sheet did say stock push rods are OK. I did install S&S 110 big bore, Gear drive cam drive, and S&S heads as well as Fueling lifters and the rocker lockers. Hey, there was a pandemic going on! It all runs fine, but makes a fair amount of noise to the point where I may go with adjustable push rods to get rid of the tapping.

Thanks for that info. Probably a torquey sucker at 110". What's your compression?

This sheet claims they can't in 06 down.that needs some clarification as it actually says "Except 2006 Dyna models"
and that is because the '06 Dynas were the start of the 96"

Not really a stock set up, I would go with the adjustable pushrods from the beginning.

06 dyna was an 88" with new hydraulic tensioner cam setup and a 6 speed transmission iirc.

Yes, I agree my post does need clarification. But albeit the sheet does clarify the 06 Dyna exception. :SM:
It is a lugger and once the Auto Tune is done, it really should be a decent runner. Only have 250 miles on it now. It'll be awhile! The advertised CR was 10.5:1 but have not checked with what I actually have. The one post said I should have probably gone with adjustable push rods and yeah, I should have!
06 Dyna is 88" but has all of the 2007up hydraulic and roller cam drive setup.
I am going to remove my stock pushrods and install adjustable in my 2010 Ultra as described earlier. I only have experience with SE units. What about the S&S? Quckie or Standard? The reason I even want to do is to quiet the tapping down. Would the standard style give me a bit more adjustment over the Quickie style?
