Title: volume not holding
Post by: moose on June 25, 2019, 11:07:20 AM
I picked up a new volume switch for my 2011 ultra limited are they hard to replace ?  I tried using contact cleaner and that did no good so I picked up a new switch cause going down the road the volume keeps getting lower I raise it up and it goes down again sometimes it will stay for a while

i have not had to replace the switch but check first to make sure that the problem is not with the music having different volume levels versus the switch.

it's the switch you can watch the volume bars go down

The best way to change it is to pull the wires out of the bars and pull the new switch wires through. IME, it's difficult to try and splice in a new switch inside the housing. Having said that, you may be able to pull the wires out as far as you can (without de-pinning the connector), then splice in the new switch and pull the harness back. This lets you do the splice farther down where it will end up inside the bars.
