Refreshing my 2010 TC96, just wondering what the builders think on maximum compression for the Andrews 48 cams.
Plan is to rebore to 107 and refresh valve train and put back together, stock heads(rebuilt), stock TB.
Not trying to build any extra Hp, just refeshing an otherwise stock 96, that has 48 cams and a decent airfilter.
Bagger with true duals.
Love these cams in my 96ci bagger, been runnin em for years. Just wondering will the extra compression of the change to 107ci will hurt cam performance or enhance.
Measure your deck height and CC your heads.
Use the big boys displacement calculator.
You may want to use an Andrews 54.
thanks, already done. hence the question how much comp will the 48's take.
TW48H has an advertised close of 29°, and is a great bolt in cam for a stock 103 engine that measures ~9.65:1.
On your 107, zero deck height, using a stock 103 head gasket & 86cc chamber heads puts you just under 10:1 static, and 9.56 corrected. Higher than designed for, but with a spot on tune and good (93 octane) fuel, should be snappy.
The reason we have limits/recommendations is so we can push them around, yes?
What he said ^^^^^^^^ :chop:
A couple of Andrews 48 links

Why not forgo the PMS and use a cam better suited that will still make great torque when coupled to the proper pipe?
235° duration and a 36° intake close or thereabouts. There are many that work well even in Andrews catalog.

An Andrews 57 will run well at 10.2 cr.
Same/same power curve as the 48....only more.

Going from 96" to 107" is not "just refreshing an otherwise stock 96."

Even better at 10.5 cr.
If you aren't looking to add power and just want a fresh engine
Do a 103" with factory/se cast pistons
Keep the 48h

:agree:
That makes the most sense. Well proven combo.
I went with a 107" years back, and went back to "stock" 103" pistons and jugs. Ran well, very low oil consumption. My 107" ran well, then started to use oil after a few thousand miles.
I had a 96" with 48's in my 10 road glide. Ran great. Had all the power I needed. Now I have a 10 road king 96". I have s&s 551 easy start cams. And a set of "take off" 103" jugs and pistons. The cams are going in. But not sure if I'll ever put the 103" set in.
Do it. My 103 and 48's are a great combo. Nice and strong
Took my 2007 Wideglide from a 96 to a 103 with Andrews 48, .03 Head gaskets, V&H slip on mufflers on stock head pipes, Powervision tuned. 96 HP / 113 TQ. Yes it has stock heads and 46mm TB. Head work and 50mm TB are this winters upgrades.
cheers to all.
I have bored stock cyls to 107 with CP pistons and rings, will keep the 48's, new S&S lifters, new chain tensioners, latest version stamped breathers, refreshed heads (new seats, guides, valves and springs), no porting and stock T/body. Powervision tuned, and will dyno it if neccessary.

We will not push the ccp up that high here.
