After installing the 5 spd. Main Drive Gear with the new Bearing I noticed my Clymer Manual says to install the Bearing with the Bearing Part No. out. Can't see the No's so I gues they are facing in. Bearing looked identical each side before installing and old one looks like it would go either way. Anyone heard of this? Should I be concerned? :rtfb:
It is a common practice to install bearings with the numbers facing the assembler, in many cases it doesn`t really matter.
The guys who write assembly instructions follow this as standard procedure, that`s why the instruction is there even though it doesn`t matter on some bearings.
If you haven`t installed the main drive gear into the bearing, you could go ahead and flip it around if it makes you feel good. :teeth:
If you have already installed the main drive gear, go with it as is.
Thanks Dan for the answer. I'll just leave it as is and not worry about it.
