Title: Andrews EV51 with oem springs?
Post by: kalmi on November 11, 2018, 11:34:21 AM
Hi!

Anybody knows that, can I use an Andrews EV51 with standard OEM HD EVO valve springs? Or is it dangerous? The EV51 lift is 0.51".

Thanks!

My cam guide says that cam is not a bolt in.
The Andrews instructions indicate the EV51 cam has a reduced base circle that requires adjustable pushrods.
Clearance between the case and the rear intake lobe needs to be checked.
Valve springs keepers and seals need to allow .560" travel
Other considerations are needed as well all found here.

I have adjustable pushrods, but if not necessary , I dont want to change the stock springs to high lift springs.

An EV51 will slide in under stock springs. I've done a few many years ago. However yes on the adjustable push rods.

Even it it can go, (we use .510" as the threshold) the OE spring is like bubble gum, in even new-like condition.
An AV&V or PM .600" lift beehive would be a great choice.

Agree with scott here, a nicr av&v beehive will give you the valve control you need and want..
