Title: 1985 FXWG Tripple Tree Side Screws
Post by: dubepj on December 28, 2018, 04:46:23 PM
Hope I don't sound too silly but here goes. My 1985 Wide Glide has a large Phillips Screw (5/16 fine thread) and a star washer on either side of the top triple tree. Wondering the purpose of these. I don't believe they actually bottom out onto the fork inside the triple tree. I think they are just there to plug the hole. I am thinking of getting a bit longer 5/16 fine thread bolts to attach a small windshield.
Again does anyone know the purpose of these short Phillips Screws??? Thanks

What I remember is they are very short, and don't contact the fork tube.
