EVO 1340 / OEM paper cyl base gasket
Last post by xlfan - Today at 06:28:41 AM
Has anyone got a magic formula for a liquid that can dissolve this base gasket besides harsh mechanical removal with the risk of damaging the cylinder base gasket surface?

AFR & Tuning Zone / Re: SEPST question

Getting a license may be less of a pain?
If they have the VCI that is married to that bike, it can be made to work. Is it the SE Pro Supertuner, or the SE Street Tuner?
You can go into file manager, and edit the last update time, to over ride the "check for updates".

AFR & Tuning Zone / SEPST question
Last post by Nebraskarider1 - Today at 02:11:30 AM
Is the SEPST pretty much useless now?Why I ask: looking at a low mile 2012 Ultra, owner purchased and had bike flashed with a SEPST when it was new in 2012. Only thing they changed was the air cleaner. I would want to do a non cat headpipe and slip-ons if I buy it. I have the SEPST software on a Win7 PC but when I open it it says flash programming disabled, check for updates, then says update failed. I'm guessing I will just be better off buying a tune license and keeping my PowerVision and using it. I hope it was ok to ask here, I haven't kept up with things since they switched to epa friendly tunes on the HD tuners.

Pan Head / Re: Panhead teardown - winter ...
Last post by CraigArizona85248 - Yesterday at 08:22:58 PM
I have 2 sets of dual plugged heads. After 20 years of using them hard, they are pretty much used up. Both sets have small cracks in the return oil gallies that allow oil to just sleep through to the outside of the heads. I decided they just aren't worth sinking more money into them. So I sourced a new set of heads and decided to keep these stock.

I did have to switch up my starting routine a bit. These heads like to have more fuel during startup. That's the biggest difference. A few more twists of the throttle before a couple primer kicks w/ key off.

The big difference is in fuel economy. I used to get 62mpg on the highway tank after tank. With the stock heads, I'm closer to 50mpg.

Quote from: Tacocaster on Yesterday at 04:36:12 PMI've done it twice on two different 07's following the SM procedure which calls for pulling the gear set so unless someone has developed a secret tool......

It's not hard, assuming basic knowledge, a SM & common sense - well, except for that pesky inner race (deep score with Dremel & split with chisel.

Quote from: rigidthumper on Yesterday at 04:18:04 PMIf you're talking about the bearing the main drive gear rides in. #8996A? No- pull the pipes, primary, inner bearing race, & trans gearset, the you can remove the MDG, and then , finally, R&R the MDG bearing.
That's what I was kind of thinking. Thanks for helping me out

Twin Cam / Replacing six-speed main shaft...

I have an '06 screaming eagle 6-speed transmission with bad main shaft bearing. Am I able to remove and replace that bearing without pulling out the gear set or pulling trap door?
