Title: JET boring 2005 OEM throttle body to 46.5mm
Post by: blown alcohol on March 24, 2024, 05:50:23 AM
I will be doing a 95" build on a 2005 RKC in a few weeks.
Build is HDstreetperformance CNC StreetPro heads, 10.5, Tman 590 cams, Fatcat 2-1, 3.37 primary

It's harder to search and find certain info on these older builds.
Does anyone remember what gains might be possible having JET bore the stock TB?
Cost to bore is $195

Waste of money IMO.
Since you're going with CNC heads find out what the port size is & get a TB to match from HPI. Ask Don what he recommends.

I would recommend this, and have Don port match it.

Isn't that the one that needs the unobtanium 1/4" spacer between the tb and manifold for touring bikes? They do work well tho.

I don't know.  Here is one with the spacer. Look at breather spacing that is needed for AC.  This is a 2010 touring engine.   IMG_4190.jpeg

I just remember I needed it on an '03 road glide. I bought 2 when they were clearing them out at $27. I doubt I have any pics.

On my 98" build that Don laid out for me.He suggested the
HPI 55/58 with 5.3 injectors and 1.8 intake.
Worked out great in my application.

Is the Kuryakyn 440 a 57mm throttle body and needs port matched to 1.8000 intake ports?
I have my heads back from Don, and wouldn't send them back to west coast for port matching. I could have local shop port match.

The 440 is stock width, 57mm bore and I believe 1.6 ports.

Absolutely.  The 55MFI is a great choice.

Do you have a part# for the spacer needed for touring bikes? I will ask the seller if he has that part. I would not buy this TB unless I can source the spacer needed for touring bikes

It's 1/4 inch plate aluminum with 3 holes in it.  Dimensions can be found with outlet of TB or inlet of manifold. :idunno:

I have found one 442 spacer for sale. How much would it cost to have it duplicated?

Don't know.  Depends on your resources. I would make sure the spacer is even needed.  IME of retro fitting EFI and TB swaps from this to that.  The differences between stock TC heads is flange bolt location.  There is no difference in head dimensions from port to breather hole.

Have you ever seen any body offer just the manifold for the Kury TB?

There is only one spacer in this package.
If you scroll through the pics it shows on front package that the spacers are needed for road king and dressers
My question is why?

IIRC, Mike epoxied the manifold area spacers on the 57 mm Kury throttle bodies. I have that TB on my 05' CVO Electra Glide, and will check. Jims machining sells spacers. Check with them on bolt pattern, and dimensions.

John let me know what you find when you can look at the throttle body on your bike.
What do these spacers clear whne used on touring model? Are they really needed is the question?

I have the Kurykayn throttle body and spacer on the way.

What is a good air cleaner to pair with it?
Big sucker or screamin eagle?
