Title: Transmission question
Post by: Mule on November 17, 2019, 02:07:09 PM
I am working on the bike I am building today and went to install the clutch cable. The new Ultima six speed has the third piece of the push rod and a throw out bearing installed.  It has no splash wheel like the stock Harley one I have. Should I use the Harley one in this transmission or run it the way it came?

I have heard (can't verify) that not all Harley transmissions used a splash wheel.  I can't see what it does except maybe help the lube trap door bearings and wouldn't they get lubed from the inside from oil slinging off the actual gears?

Found out trial and Error, The HD piece while it is the same length ,it has a shoulder on the back of the splash wheel that takes away all the travel. Put the one it came with and it works fine! Thanks man!

Could have made a spacer between the bearing and inner part of the clutch actuator to restore the  travel  but figuring out the thickness would have been trial and error as well.
