If you're talking about the bearing the main drive gear rides in. #8996A? No- pull the pipes, primary, inner bearing race, & trans gearset, the you can remove the MDG, and then , finally, R&R the MDG bearing.

I have an '06 screaming eagle 6-speed transmission with bad main shaft bearing. Am I able to remove and replace that bearing without pulling out the gear set or pulling trap door?

Yes, says the same thing both sides.

is it Laser etched both sides ?

Not sure on how the wages compare here to USA .
