Title: RSDS Problems on 2021 Touring, Custom Wheel Size
Post by: Rare100thHD on June 11, 2021, 09:51:48 AM
Hello all, a little help wanted,
When putting a 21 and a 16 rear on a 21 touring model with RSDS
Is there any issues with the RSDS and Slip Control because of the diameter difference's
Has anyone successfully done this?

Update, Harley Customer Service says a change in wheel size will be an issue because the wheel and tire diameter is pre-programed into the ECU for RSDs and torque slip to function properly

I don't know about RSDS but it has already been determined for ABS brakes that there is an allowable percentage factored into the wheel size differential.  With ABS, the ECM will see different wheel sizes outside that parameter as one wheel brake applying and  getting skid traction.  Ohio and I believe FSG made a calculator to allow you to determine wheel sizes (outer diameters) and sidewall aspects that can be matched together and stay within the safe operating range.  It may be possible to find out if the same applies to RSDS.  Withy the recent tire shortage being discussed here there will be LOTS of newer bikes parked because it's not possible to get the exact tire you need when you may be able to use a different combination that is suitable to the ECM.
