Another one of those "HD investment" fools who probably has not looked at the prices on motorcycles since he bought that and sent it to the dealer with a blank check for shiney stuff.

$1000 service? Must have had to pull the motor to change the oil, or put a fresh wax job on the piston tops.

I didn't see what year the bike was.  $17,500 might be doable if it isn't too old.

I had to laugh at the "search terms" he used. He wants exposure!   LMAO!

if the bike's less than a couple years old and low miles (i'm guessing close to none) and the custom work is close to what a buyer likes, i wouldn't think $17500 is too far out of line.
just sayin.

I just read the first 3 search terms, and puked a little in my mouth. Wish it could have been on his bike instead...

Then again, maybe only the rich fools that buy Mercedes and Rolexes have the $ these days to buy a 'show bike'.
Considering I picked up my 'show bike' for under 7k...

Looks like an EVO cam cover to me.  Then again pic is pretty small/blurry so who knows.

If I was looking to buy a new one (which I'm not), I would think you would get a lot more value from this bike than a new stock bike at the same money. Especially if you were determined to load it up with shiny bling anyhow.

That timer cover sort of looks like one of those Kury looking objects with the lights that go round and round.

wow, what a buncha meanies  For custom paint (if its really special), PM wheels, motor work, etc. that doesn't seem unreasonable to me. I always chuckle when I hear folks talking down to metric riders about the high value retention of our Harleys yet don't want that to apply when they BUY one :hyst: It would've helped if there was more info on the bike itself, but I'm sure a serious inquiry would take care of that. Even if the owner does turn out to be some yuppie dork I don't see that making a difference on what the bike is worth. Must be PMS* setting in for all of us in the frozen north :teeth:

what Scurvy, doesn't your local dealer have Marble columns?   :crook:

I saw two things noticeably absent in the listing, year and milage.   :dgust:  If it was an '07 and up, price is a little high but could be inline based on the accsy's.    Didn't list the year or the milage, but didn't forget to put this in the BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, Jeep, NASCAR, Indy, 400, Tickets, Concert, tools, 4X4, ATV, Honda, Yamaha, Truck, Harley, Davidson, Racing, Motorcycle, Ultra, Cellular, Toyota, rock, Hybrid, Antique, Rolex, News, Country, music, Diesel sections? that's a whole lot of spam.....

Probably some guy that got killed in the market and no longer can justify his garage trinket.  I'm thinking this is a boutique dealer advertisement and not an individual based on the pic and since they didn't list any of the important stuff like year and engine details.  We used to have one of these used exotic car dealers around here that sometimes had bikes.  They don't know the first thing about bikes so they can't even do an add right.  If they had listed some important details it may very well be with $17K to someone.

What an excellent observation!  I just bet that you are correct. An individual likely would not have spammed all of the other selling catagories.

I bet eagle is right!

there are a few exotic car consignment places in Bellevue WA, those bikes and cars will sit on the floor with an over bloated price for months on end. The Shelby we had was one of those, it sat there for four months with a fat price (for the time) we kept looking at it with interest, dealer told us to make an offer because they were gonna tell the owner to sell it or take it home, we made a very very low offer and he took it!...good deal for us!

Why would someone put a hydrolic (as opposed to hydraulic, if it really even has one he ought to know how to spell it then) clutch in a bike that has a fine mechanical clutch to begin with?  Ya think he's lookin fer a sucker, maybe?

:hyst: looks lke they took his Rolls Royce too, from the car in the background. Probably is a specialties dealer as mentioned by others, that would also explain the list of hit words. I still don't see why it's outrageous to so many people who haven't even SEEN the bike in person-just a crappy pic??? Just 'cause I can't afford it doesn't mean it's overpriced

I"ve seen simular post many times on both the old and new HTT site.  Would you be willing to start a thread for an offer to sell your bike with a picture and description and an asking price?   You wouldn't pay my price and I probably wouldn't pay yours either.  Did you pay the Harley dealer to do the work, or did you put your sweat into the bike?   Craigslist or Ebay or what ever.  My bike is worth as much or more to me than yours is to you. Give it a rest.......................Sorry had to vent.  Glen

Blow it up and it looks even more like an Evo to me.
Let's see, pre '99, probably has less than 5000miles on it, spent most of it's life in
the stealer's shop installing crap.

BTW, why would you strip a heritage down to a FatBoy and then put a bunch of crap on it??
Kinda like making a WideGlide out of an Ultra??

I agree with Glenn W.... We brag about HD's resale value; then someone has to be full of it, when they set a sell price. That's hypocritical..

There's not enough info to knock the bike... It could be a reasonable price... Plus, I don't give a rats a$$ who the guy is.. A nice HD is a nice HD... Bad mouth the metric bikes... I hope he gets every dime he asked for; that's good precedence for others who sell their Harleys...

Same cell phone is listed for a Jeep CJ sale in Illinois. Pictures of the jeep look like they were taken in Florida. Same type of ad, high quote on the installed options and custom work but offered at a low must sell price.

We all value our motorcycles more than they're really worth on the open market. For me, in my mind, the Road King I commute to work on is worth a lot more than I would get in trade, probably about $4,000 in this economy. Part of the deal when you trade a vehicle is that you're not stuck with the inconvenience of trying to sell it to boneheads, and for some of us, it's worthwhile to do so.

However, I bought a new truck recently, and I found the trade in on my old truck wasn't worth dealing with. I figure for that kind of money, I'll keep it for a landfill runner.

I think this guy might be "curbstoning", where he gets a car or bike, with an open title, and he sells it to someone else. I had a boss who did this for years, and he made quite a bit of money. During the 1980's, he was bringing in another $10,000 a year doing this, and that's a lot of money if you're doing it in spare time. Another friend started doing it because he needed extra cash when his wife walked out on him and their son, and he built a business with the cash. Not a bad deal.

The seller will always exaggerate when describing a vehicle. Chances are, this guy is into this bike for probably $10k or so, and he's trying to just make a buck. It could be a very good deal for someone who wants a bike just like that, or close enough to that, so he could get his bike and change a few minor things and call it good.

When I bought my Panhead, it wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but it was close enough. I figured I can ride it as is for now, change a few things over the next year or two, and then I'm where I want it. Not a bad deal, considering I got in cheap enough.

Remember, just because you don't like it, someone else may fall in love. That's all they need, the one person with the cash who falls in love with it. I just gotta find that someone for my old truck!

One of my scoots is brand new, and it's not worth crap in today's market compared to what I paid for it/have put into it. It's just plain not worth $-it's worth my enjoyment of the ride.

Glen, you have a good point, and I am sure someone somewhere thinks that bike is a steal!

Now about that Rolex-is it ok to have full sleeves and wear a snazzy watch like that? I hear they make your junk bigger.

Heck, I've got about $40k in my 02 Deuce. Do you think I could get $35k for it?  LOL
