Will it work as a bolt in, 2002 carbed ?

Ah so yes, thanks for that
Just picked up a garage queen 02, got a good deal on a 510G kit
It'll feel sluggish off the bottom..............unless the compression is brought up to meet the cam, and/or cubic inch increase as well.
509 works better in a stock engine!

He got a good deal on the gear drive cam set. If you saved money there spend some to have a machinist bore your cylinders to 98". That'll get you more compression and a better performing .510.
They do sound hot at idle.

510 cams work better with the early model twin cam bikes and their gearing.
A MUCH better pug/play choice in an 88" is an Andrews 21.
Any dyno, any day.
I ran 510G's an a stock 88 for a long time and it went pretty good after 3000 rpm.
Did the heads and went to a 98" , went with 570G's and it doing 111hp / 123 torq
570 has same timing as 510 but the 570 lift, instead of the 585's

:agree: one look at the specs and anyone can see that...too much duration without enough cubes / squeeze in an otherwise stock engine
she's gonna be lazy :crash:
years ago I got Andrews 26 on a 2000 road king love it
Have a local client that has a 2006 Dyna.
Ran the .510's for years, with a Thunderheader.
Beautiful sleek bike.
Finally made the move to a 98"/our Stage II Heads, and we bored his t/body to 50mm, then tuned it.
The before/after dyno chart is almost unbelieveable.
He easily waxes 110"s as he has told us.

98" and set the squeeze at 9.7 cr.
We do that build here.
Snappy low-mid combo.

Thanks , going 95/ 98" a possibility would like to stick with the CV & manage without comp releases
so any build suggestions pistons /carb tweaks ?
Had the 510G's in an 06 RG punched out to 95 with HD SE Heads and exhaust and a/c. Ran great but liked rpm's. Wound up a bunch quicker than my 103. Only reason i got rid of the bike was to get an 11 RGU with ABS.

CV carb will be absolutely fine.
An adjustable igntion will help as well.
We have dedicated 98" kits #HMM-0980.
Flat top pistons, or 8.5cc domes.

I'm running one with 10:1. I had compression releases put in even though the machine shop said I wouldn't need them. They were right, so far I haven't had to have them. I'm right on what the bigboyz say ccp should be at 10:1 as well. All this said I haven't had it out in the 100+ degree heat touring. At that point they may be handy. I figure might as well have them and not need them than the other way around. Makes for a fun all-around bike.
