Title: Street Cannon Baffle Removal
Post by: Propflux01 on May 13, 2025, 07:11:07 AM
I have a set of street cannons that the RHS pipe had blown out the fiberglass baffling. This set is the newer style that doesn't have the two baffle set screws on it. It's like a press fit inside. If you look at the pics I took, I don't really see a good "shelf" to get a wooden dowel to hammer on or anything to knock it out (It's not welded in). One suggestion I got was to rig up some king of metal hook to get inside the holes at the rear of the baffle and slide hammer it out, but I can see it bending up. Anyone have any suggestions or experience removing this so I can repack it?

Flat steel plate larger than circumference of outer pipe. Make three holes in plate close to same placement as current holes in baffle.Threaded rod long enough to reach beyond baffle end cap and extend up beyond flat plate.

Bend three pieces of T.rod 90deg near one end and wrangle into baffle holes. Extend rods up and through flat plate and install washers and nuts above plate. With Tongue extended out of corner of mouth to appropriate position, draw down on nuts to lift baffle cap up and out. Maybe.....

Or.....heat exhaust pipe inside with propane torch (not too much and try to avoid baffle cap) and tap baffle end cap up - as in slide hammer-like action.

We're pullin' for ya. We're all in this together

We were able to remove a set on an old pair of SE mufflers by
continuously dropping them on a 2x6 laying on the concrete.
Not sure if that will work on what you have.        Coff 06

Well, all I ended up doing was distorting the end portion. Baffle didn't budge. I even got enough lip to hammer a pipe on to try and knock it out the rear. No Go. I've done quite a few repacks before, but never like this! I'm guessing Harley wants us to simply buy new ones when the packing goes out.
