Title: New 2008 Anniversary Deluxe
Post by: wolfmotor1 on September 03, 2009, 03:05:18 AM
Buying a brand new, zero miles, 2008 Deluxe.  Any issues with this model I should know about?  Thanks in advance.

Other than the usual TC96/6spd issues, nope.  Expect a lot of heat from the motor, and 5th gear whine.  How much heat and whine are a matter of the riders perspective.

No need to worry about the 5th gear noise, nothing is harmed, so just ride it.

The heat is from a very lean AFR condition on stock bikes.  A tuner will help a lot to adjust the AFR and make the bike run a little better.

Deluxe is a nice bike, congratulations and have a great time on her!

Dennis the menace is pretty much right on. I have an 08 streetGlide, and they do run hot. 5TH gear does have a whine to it, but not near as bad as the 07 models. Enjoy your new ride!

The only other issue I can imagine is get use to being looked at.....that model is a real eye catcher......the Deluxe is one of my favorite models.....I love the lines and the way that bike is set up....with white walls, low stance, fenders, lights....it's absolutely a gorgeous bike....

ENJOY!

Regards,

Thanks for the replies.  Dealer let me start 'er up and the darn thing is much too quiet.  It's a JN serial number (I'm in Japan) and he's already recommended I ditch the cats and put US stock mufflers on it when I take delivery...he says he likes the Thundermax as well....will follow his recommendations as he's the one doing any warranty work on it.  I've wanted a Deluxe since they first came out and the wife is the one who didn't want me to get rid of my E-glide until she saw the anniversary Deluxe!
