Just wondering how to go about using the mastertune on wifes 2010 SG without voiding the warranty. The serv. manager basically told me if I dont let them tune it I will void the factory warranty. Im just putting a slipon on and a se air filter, and want to use the mastertune to tune it. Should I just let them do the stage one thing, and then use the tts after? Is there even a stage 1 download anymore, I thought I heard something about a digital tech, or something like that. Also have any of you had issues with just putting a nightstick on a 2010 sg, as long as everything is left stock. TIA
When you get ECM infomation. Write down the file number. On the final tuned map rename it the same file number.
You should also save the factory calibration when you first connect with the TTS.

That's a really good idea. If you did get the factory stage 1 download, you could do the same thing and then your hardware (exhaust, airbox) and software (cal name from the stage 1) would match.
Thanks for the input. I wouldnt worry about it, but the dealer would have seen that I put the se ac on, and if I let them put it on, and then the stage 1 download, I should be covered. The only way they would know that I have used the tts is if they put the bike on the dyno, which I do not want. Im sure they would just put the basic starting cal on anyway, without actually tuning the bike. I think they only use the sest and pc's anyway. Had the parts guy tell me again that all the cals are only for sea level, and wont work at this altitude.
talk to a MOCO rep and you may find no matter who puts that stuff on, including the dealer, voids the warranty. It all boils down to whether the dealer and the rep are willing to overlook it and/or state that the warranty issue is not related to the modifications but they can and have stated in some instances that it voided the warranty even though the dealer put it on.

I have a -10 FLTRX, and put the nightstick on- ran to Phoenix and back, and ran great at 8000', and at 800'.
Everything else (motor wise) is still as shipped from MOCO.

I think I might just put the nightstick on for now, and just wait for the bike to go off warranty before I do the stage 1 ac and tts. Its not worth losing the warranty over, they already think I am a troublemaker cause I mention things that are not HD products. The wife only weighs 110 lbs, and she was right there with us on saturday at 100-105 mph in a couple of straightaways. I dont think she needs that extra 10 hp and tq.
If you were to make a backup copy of the stock calibration and store it as you should, when ever you are going to take it in for warranty work you could put that back in. No one would know the difference then, or as others have posted just go to the calibration number in the software and change it to whatever you like. If you pick a HD number so be it. You will find the "edit calibration part number" under the "edit" menu in the software.
One fool proof way is just to buy a second module. Tune that one. Go crazy with the mods. Oops need a big warranty repair someday, put it all back to 100% stock and say - look what happened.
Car manufacturers think they have the aftermarket beat on tuning devices by newer ECM's/PCM's that record all the files ever entered. Only problem with that fool proof plan is any fool can just buy another module.
I also put a Nightstick on a 2010 RG - Runs great with no download. Good power, not a miss or sputter anywhere. The dealer even told me there is no download required with just the Nightstick and no change to intake.

i am in the same boat just bought a 2010 sg and would like to change the pipes but afraid of voiding the warranty do to the fact of having to tune after the pipes how does the nightstick sound compared to the stock muffler.
I havent heard the pipe yet myself, Ill let ya know after I get her on if nobody chimes in. Hopefully it will sound pretty good. Maybe rigid thumper or ghost rider can tell us how it sounds on their bike
I think it sounds great! Bit of bark when on the gas, fairly quiet at 80 MPH ( I can hear my XM channel 73 just fine at 1/2 volume)
