I have the B lifters but I'm getting a little valvtrain noise nothing real bad. Just wondering if the S&S limiters will help quiet it down a little, the noise starts around 1500 rpm.

S/S lifters are working well for me

When I did my build with Andrews 37G's with RP lifters and stock push rods, it sounded like a box of marbles.  I was told it was the cam and I lived with it for years.  This spring I went in to change the oil pump so I decided to use SE adjustable push rods and also changed the lifters to the stock 99B's.  Totally different engine.  Quiter than what I remember the stock engine was.  I adjusted the push rods 4 turns as well.  So I cant say if it was the lifters or the adjustment.  I just know that with the setup I have now, I am happy.

4 turns on SE pushrods? doesnt that make the pre-load over .150" ?

If you don't spin your motor past 6k, Harley B's-If you got big power on the street and play in the high rpm's, go with Hydrosolids or S&S w/ limiters.

Also heard a rumor that a stock Chevy Lifter is the exact same lifter as the "B" for about $11.00 each.  This has yet to "B" confirmed.   Could it really "B"?

I will "B" patiently waiting.

Don't all 96 motors (A&B) 07-10 now come with the B lifter as stock?

second the Black OPs. The quieter of the 2 sets of B's, or S&S w/limiters that I tried.

I use Crane #10530 lifters for a SBC.  Before using them,  I called Crane and was told that the lifter they market for a HD and SBC is the exact same one with two different part numbers.  The only difference is the inflated price for the HD numbered one.

I adjust the push rods to preload the lifter by .140~.150 simply because the engine can and will grow up to .090 to .100 on a hot day and you want the lifter to be able to handle this growth.  Plus it is quiet!

Remember these.   I wonder if they're as good as they used to be?

bbrownods...........check the instructions on your s.e. adjustables..........use to be 2 and one half turns......you can get by with less then that...blackhills ken had a thread about it a while back.....didn't want to hi-jack thread..........j.k. i posted this message before reading rest of thread.......doing 4 turns made things quieter? i am curious.....what about when motor is cold? do you have to be careful on the throttle? thanks j.k.

That's what I have as well. Pretty pricey though.

Betcha they are Eatons, nothing wrong or great either compared to the Harley B lifter because they are likely the same.

Probably need to start another thread if we keep going.  Four turns works out well.  No noise cold and also aids in hot starts (longer rods = greater effective duration during starting when lifters are collapsed??)

Sure unless you float the valves. I would run limiters if you want to run that deep in the lifter, just a cheap easy safety measure.
