Title: belt deflection
Post by: deltafarmer on November 16, 2010, 06:52:32 PM
2009 Ultra-  how critical is belt adjustment? I use the HD tool, but 16ths are hard to get exact.  Thanks!!

I certainly don't think it's critical enough to have to measure in 1/16th of an inch.  You just don't want them too tight or on the flip side, too loose.  I use the force tension tool thing and a metal ruler and look in the 1/8th inch range to see if I'm close.  For the most part..........it's a "feel" thing if you ask me.

I've been using the 45 degree twist method with good results for quite awhile.

Do it by the book. Just ask us guys who've broke belts before.
