Title: Help with neck bearing part #s
Post by: 2glides on March 18, 2011, 06:03:14 AM
Hi All,
I'm going to change the neck bearings and races as part of my rebuild on my 97 eglide classic. I have all of hte harley part#s, But I am looking for the Timken or whoever's bearings HD uses so that I can buy them directly from my bearing supplier. ( he gave me my wheel bearings for the bubble). I buy thousands of bearings from him every year. I haven't got it apart yet, so I'm looking for a little help. Here are the HD #'s
Roller bearings (2) 48300-60
Cups / races (2)  48315-60
Sheild, upper  48361-80
Sheild, lower   48365-48A
I really appreciate any help on this,
Thank you,
2Glides

 :agree:

The Timken is your typical Taper Roller Wheel bearing also used in trailers.

and for the price I'd just get the HD Dust Shields.

48361-80 DUST SHIELD BEARING UPPER  MRRP 2.95

48365-48A DUST SHIELD BEARING LOWER   MRRP 1.95

14Frisco,  Thank you very much.
FSG, Thanks, I figured that, but wasn't sure so I listed the # for the sheilds. Thanks

Went to the Advance store and asked for a set # 14 and counter guy wants to know what car does it fit.  Couldn't convince him to go to the shelf and get a 14 which contained the cup and the cone.

Walked across the parking lot to the NAPA store and asked for a set # 14 and the owner ask "Import or American?"  He didn't need to look it up.
