Wish I had the coin to drop, looks like the answer to the baggers gearing woes and still cruise comfortably.

Max, The benefit of the DD7 is to have the best of both worlds, not just the lower gearing.

we plan on installing one in my 09 SG, along with 30 tooth front pulley.  I am also looking at a option of the N drum as well.

Proper gearing is waaaaaaaaaay more important than power when the gearing is all wrong except for top gear.

:agree: gotta love the right gearing.. We have install countless primo 6 speed kits for the shovel 4 speed to 6 speed.  Turns them into the best of both worlds, great low end gearing and still run the hwy at 80 mph with out reving the crap out of the little shovel.

The later baggers have gearing woes? Bad enough to drop a $1,000-$2,000 into the bike? :nix:

Yup! And even after about $10K into engine mods, exhaust, clutch etc.. :bike: I am doing a DD7 as we speak too! :smiled:

Got one in my 09 bagger, I really like 5th and 6th gear for cruising on the hwy. You have to shift a bit quicker from first through fourth, but it keeps you in a nice range.
Shifts smoother, no clunks, no whine. Overall, I'm very happy with it, as it was my only option for a stronger tranny with the 09 model year.

I noticed the change in gearing, well who wouldn't going from a '05 to a '10 Ultra, but it never bothers me any, even pulling a trailer.

If I ponied up the $$$ for a Baker trans for mine,  one of those gears had better have an "R" on it so as when I get to it,  the damn 885 pound slug will go backwards without any grunting on my part. :gob:

Pulled the 6 speed gear set out last night. I am now waiting on some specialty tools, to get the job done.

I agree with proper gearing.  Several ways to skin that cat.  IMHO primary or final ratio's are a lot cheaper to get there than a 7speed.  Just installed a brute IV on a 08 streetbob.  1.583 primary ratio.  Works great and all gears are useable.  No, that wasn't the cheapest option, but customer likes it.

hrdtail, I was investigating that Brute just last night but could find no pricing. Approx what $  might a guy be looking at for purchase?
Thanks
