Ok, so I've got 92,000 on the 2002 Heritage and on my second set of tensioners. The conversion to the newer setup is going to run right at $1000. Is this about right and a worth while investment?
LDB187, what has been the cost of the last two tensioner?
Do you do the work yourself?
I paid about $600.00 in parts to have mine done and a about $350.00 in labor here at an indie to do the
conversion.
I also had the quick install p/r installed when the 95'' was installed for ease of further upgrades ...
I simply didnt want to run the original version of the tensioners and I liked the idea of the new oil pump.
OK, I was sold on it or sucked into the marketing hype on the new design.
Obviously if your doing the work yourself your saving money.

I don't remember the cost of the 1st set I had installed at 40+K. This is only the second time. Everything is running good but just getting paranoid and decieded to go with the conversion. The HD shop is doing the install and with the other minor work that they are doing will run right at a grand. When I had the 95" done (10K) I also had custom head work done by Hildreth Performance and kept the orginal p/r. I'm also running 204 cams, HC pistons.
I did my own work about 2 years ago and the parts were about a grand for hydraulic tensioners, chains, oil pump, cam plate, 21N cams, bearings, lifters, adjustable push rods and covers, misc hardware
I just finished my upgrade last week end. I put in the same stuff as wholehog and it too ran me about 1K.
