Ok so I just put a set of screamin eagle MCR heads with .040 head gasket on my 96"
Now my aircleaner back plate doesn't line up with the throttle body and the holes that go into the heads. I'm assuming its because the heads are milled so there shorter but the instructions that came with the heads don't say anything about needing a different air cleaner
If I need a different backplate does anyone know what will fit? Or is there some way to modify the old one?
Right now I just have the regular round screamin eagle backplate
I use those heads with a .030" head gasket with no issues. :nix:
Wow I'm an idiot!!
I just pushed down on the throttle body. It spun inside the flanges and now line up perfectly
Did you say you just pushed down on a throttle body that was tightened to the intake manifolds? If so, that is not a good thing. It is not a good practice to move the throttle body once it's been tightened. That can cause an intake manifold leak. The proper way is to mock it up with the backing plate and they tighten it down to its natural position.

Yes I realize that's now a good thing to do. Live and learn this is my first time doing this. I'm going to reinstall it correctly this week with new seals. Thanks for the tip on lining it up. For now bike fired right up and runs great
If it's running good & you didn't twist it down too much you'll probably be alright, you can check for a leak by spraying the area with a little carb cleaner.
Cool ill try that first
