Title: Cee Bailey's for RG
Post by: martida01 on April 21, 2009, 08:56:26 AM
Anyone have the Euro or Domed version of this windshield?  I'm looking to go with which one performes the best.  They both look good, I'm kinda torn between the two.

My buddy just put one on his roadglide...not sure if it was the domed or Euro version but it looks GORGEOUS!...Don't know how it is to ride behind it yet but we'll be on the road to Texas next week and I'm sure I'll hear about it then.  If it performs as well as it looks, I might just have to replace my clearview.  I had a Cee Bailey's SSC shield on my FLHT and LOVED it.

Bought the Euro in dark, the tallest one they make.  They also have an upgrade bolt kit.  I had the credit card out and said what the hey...they gave me 10% off mentioning HTT!

Well, we're back from Texas.  3000 miles in 7 days. :smilep:  My friend said the new windshield really smoothed the turbulence and made the stereo seem much louder and more clear.  He has the 15" high one in the Euro I believe, but if he could do it again, he'd order one about 2" taller.

The only negative he really had for the windshield was the fact that rain water runs up those contours on the sides and spills over right onto the glove boxes...He thinks his Mp3 player got wet that way and killed it.  Of course we were running through those insane storms in northern Texas last Wednesday, which didn't help.

I'll be sure to give my 'expert' opinion on it once I get it in the wind.

I'd like to know where the top of the CB windshield is in your line of vision, and how tall you are.  I've got a stock 12" HD, 15" HD and 12" Klockwerks.  The height of the 12" KW and HD line up.  The 15" HD was in my irritation area where I was either stretching my neck or ducking to avoid looking through the cut line.

THX

Hey Glide1962. Not to get personal but bet your about 6' with around a 34" inseam.  I have the KW and the HD 15" (as well as short HD). KW too short, HD hits me right in the eye. Still looking for that perfect mix of being able to look over but quiet air behind.

Good guess.  I cut about 1 1/2 inches off my HD 15" and it is OK, I just don't care for the looks of it.

I cut my stock RG sheild down about 4 inches so I have a shorty LOL Lots of air but the buffetting is gone.

Ordered a Memphis Shades 17 inch so we'll see how it does on the road....

Windshield came in today and it looks awsome.  I ordered the 16" Euro in dark tint. :smilep:

Lined it up with the stock unit and it looks to be about an inch shorter.

Can't wait to get the inner fairing paint done so I can slap it back together.

Also ordered the well nut kit and it looks much better than the stock hardware.

I may be the odd man out but I don't get that design at all - especially in bad weather like rain - it is contoured like a trough/funnel to spill water right onto the fairing dash and acting like a funnel that will certainly throw water onto the rider. I feel the better design is to have a windshield as far in front as possible to work as a barrier between the elements and rider.

Again I just may be not getting the supposed aerodynamics of that windshield. Again I don't much care what it looks like, is it really functional and a help to the rider.
