Hi all, bought a 06 FLHX with 40k on the clock 10 days ago and all has been well till last Friday night when I noticed the engine light and battery light on when I pulled up at home ,next morning I went for a ride and it had disappeared! Saturday afternoon I went to leave a local bike show and she wouldn't fire up....took the plugs out and had spark but they were dry, fuel pump is priming when I turn the ignition on.Service records show a new fuel filter was fitted at 34k.
I'm new to these late model bikes so any guidance on where to start looking would be appreciated.
Check all your fuses....
Open fuel cap, look inside and turn switch on. Look for fuel spraying inside tank
Had a mate ring me with a 2007 Road King saying it won't start and he had checked for spark and done everything.
Told him to pull quick disconnect on fuel tank and then click it back in and bike started straight away.
This kept happening once or twice a week until I rebuilt the tank connector for him with new o-rings and has not happened since.
Worth a try...................
Thanks for the replies everyone, I,m replacing the fuel filter atm, then will try the other options if it doesn't work.
Ok,so I finally received the new fuel filter and put it in. With a couple of hits of the button she starts back up. Great I have a running bike again. The old filter is only 6k miles old! I'm going to cut it open and see what the problem was.

How did the fuel line connection under the tank look? If they get corroded even a little bit it won't let fuel through to the fuel rail
Can't imagine a fuel filter plugging in 6K miles - not sure you've found your problem
We have 1 -'07 and several '08 FLHTPs that all developed a no-start problem at some point. In every case replacing the line from the tank to the injector rail fixed it for good. On some there may have been a problem with the lining of the tubing, on others it was probably the fitting at the tank.

this sounds like a much more plausible problem / solution
thanks for sharing
