86 FXR. 10-5 compression screaming eagle heads and a Carl's speed shop 580 lift cam.  Have an old Crane ignition on it now. It works but no rev limiter. Thinking about the Ultima.  Anyone using one.

Im running the Ultima programmable nose cone unit in my Ultima 107. 60,000 miles and no problems.

I don't care for nose cone ignition modules. I use 2 types my 1980 shovel uses a Dyna S single fire with the green Dyna coils. My 1997 Bad Boy uses a crane Hi 4 E ignition module under the seat with the crane single fire coil.Kept the stock Harley Hall Effect mag pickup. This set up is pushing 20 yrs with no problems.
I have a 1994 Fatboy on the lift with a nose cone compufire. Won't start when hot won't run in single fire and it has single fire coils. This set up was installed in 1996 so it had a good run

I put a DTT programmable module on my 90 EVO with the stock HD pickup unit. Works great.  I had a Compu Fire on a 113 and it finally went out. Thank goodness. It cost me a ring gear and starter clutch's. I replaced it with the nose cone Ultima Dyna copy programmable. It was far better than the C Fire  Started easier and run better. I would stay away from a nose cone if you can. But I have no trouble with the Ultima.

Ultima is 3 of my bikes right now ........ Never had a problem yet ...... I've installed lots of them for other people ...... Ultima coils tho can go bad seen a few just stop working in single fire?

There are lots of good brands its just hard to spend 2 or 3 Times the money on another brand .... for something that seems to do a great job :embarrassed:

The ultima is a solid unit I ran 1 for awhile. I'm running a DTT 1005 now I like it because you can set up a custom curve. You can set rev limiter from 100-7000rpm and with the software you can pull the info from the igg shows run time in all rpm and WOT also gives you the temp of the ignition module itself.

If it has tits or gears it will give you problems at some point!!

Fxr ,Dyna Single fire with black coils , nice product BUT dont like leave the ign on without fire the bike, long time ago, i forget the key on, i lost one coil and the pickup too.

I use the first version Dyna 2000 (DD2000-HD1 without VOES option) on my 93in FXLR because that's what was out there in 1994 & it still works. On my 80in FXLR I use the Screamin' Eagle adjustable (re-branded Dyna 2000 HD1E) that has the VOES option. I like the fact they are plug & play & not in the nosecone. YMMV.....

I too am running the dyna hd1e in my 85.  Plug and play, with curve adjustment.  A bit ago i found a used one on ebay, tested and working and now rides in the pouch.  $50 iirc and now i have a spare should the original fail on the road.  Plug and play solution, peace of mind when riding a 30 yr old machine should something go wrong where most dont even know what an evo is.  So far the original has lasted 80k and 20 some yrs.  But prepared...

In case some of you do not know ...... On the Ultima you can make your own carves and change stuff around Just like the Dyna 2000 ............. You need to by the PC link and software tho ..... Ultima is as I am told made at the same place as the Dyna 2000 ........ I do know all the preset carves are the same as the Dyna and you can program them with the same software and cable as well  :smiled: ................. Carry on!

using the ultima  no problems  & cheaper than most.

I've got an 86 EVO, put a Dyna 2000 on it back in 08 and it worked pretty good. till one day it left me on the side of the road. so after that i got one of those Twin Tec ignition set ups and thats been on for three or four years. so far its working good. I have to say they were both mounted in the nose cone. I know heat can be an issue in that regard, depending on who your talking too. I don't know if heat played a part in the demise of the Dyna but if this Twin Tec goes tits up I think i'd be looking to put the next one some place else.

Points and condenser.
Throw an extra set in your bags and you'll never be left on the side of the road because of an ignition module failure.
Not only that, but when the Ruskies/North Koreans/Iranians, et al drop the big EMP bomb, you'll be the only one on the road.

I run the ultima one that came with my 127 in my 110 S&S and the programmable ultima in the 127 the Ultima is the best ignition I have run in the S&S motor including the IST the standard curve seems to work better with the 4" bores as most ignitions have curves matched for Stock engines which comes on too soon.
