I am installing a new crank assy. Anyone know of a simpler way to select the correct pinion bearing set for my 2004 XL1200R rubbermount? The service manual shows 4 different ones. Probably need a bore gauge?

Yeah, I would use a bore gauge, the increments for the different bearings is very small. You also need to measure the pinion inner race OD and there should be a chart to pick a bearing based on the two measurements.

FYI, since it's a new crank and should have a new inner race. I would have the pinion outer race lapped / honed to get a wear free surface for the new bearing.
