What is a real world rule of thumb for the life expectancy of oxygen sensors? In the past I have heard after 40-50,000 miles they get "lazy". My 09 Ultra has 97k on it and I am contemplating replacing them as my fuel mileage just don't seem like it is what it used to be. Also are there better priced sources than the dealer that would be a direct plug in for my 09? It has the larger ones with single wire. I don't mind tying a longer wire up if needed just don't like those universals where ya put your own end on as I don't have the proper crimper and haven't heard anything good about splices when it comes to o2 sensors. Thanks in advance.

Stock replacements are 'bout as good as you can get, and found online for about $55. Aftermarket (Fueling) are $60 each from Drag Specialties, and they don't work any better than HD ones.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

For the 18mm sensors the only ones I'm aware of are the Bosch 12028 sensors but the wire connection are not the same, either have to buy the connections from Harley and install them or like I did and use butt splices and heat shrink to the OEM wires seems to be working fine for the past 1 1/2 years, I got them from auotzone seems like about $17 each

If I recall correctly you are a tuner, how often do you think they should be replaced?

TBH, I haven't seen many fail. My old Road Glide with the 120 motor is still on the original 02 sensors, approaching 90 thousand miles.
With stock/lean tune, they should go 100,000+ miles. With a slightly richer tune, but still closed loop, at least 80k.
