I have camped at Turkey Creek Campground, nice place.  I can guarantee it got flooded.  Bryson City got flooded.  They are operating cash only, banks aren't open. There having issues getting fuel. Big problem now is infrastructure is gone in NC and TN.

Well it wasn't flooded when I was at the campground, thankfully, and it honestly didn't look like anything happened.  Bryson City was definitely screwed up, lots of construction and all the businesses along the river had their guts along the sidewalks.  Didn't need cash, cards worked fine, but stopped at one station that didn't have gas because of some computer/internet problem.  Other than that it was fairly normal.  I didn't bother going to Ashville, I had no business there and I'm not going to be a useless tourist in the middle of everyone trying to help each other and I'd just be getting in the way.  At the campsite when I was picking up my laundry on my last night there was a guy at the large sink cleaning these very large commercial vats that were at one point full of food.  He said he had been volunteering in the area serving food, and honestly it made me feel bad and useless that I hadn't contributed jack squat.  On the one hand I wanted to help but on the other it was my only vacation of the year, kinda torn about it.  I didn't want to start helping then feel bad about having to leave after such a short time of a day maybe.
