Tried the west side of the Tetons this year (Great side to see them from) no traffic and some good side trips ( Mesa falls.) Through Idaho ( hells canyon) east side of Oregon then up across RT 20 in Washington.

Liked RT 20 so much went back across it then to Glacier down to Bearthooth down to Cody over to Keystone then RT 2 across Nebraska (its better than I 80).

Hope you enjoy. http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i160/roadglide65/

This year the wife and I stayed here in Colorado. Left Westminster down the back way into Cripple Creek for a night then on down to Monte Vista, over Wolf Creek pass thur Pagosa Springs, Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride, Ridgeway, Montrose over to Blue Mesa to Paonia to Aspen, Over Independence Pass to Leadville, Breckenridge, Alma to Fairplay and back home. Just over 1100 miles / 7 days. The goal was to do short days(longest one was just under 200 miles) stay off the big road as much as possible( only about 35 miles of interstate) See as much off the bike as on it ( done). Lots of mountain passes (done) And not get wet ( yea, right, but we did keep it to under 30 miles). It was one nice trip, southwest Colorado is a great ride but don't tell anyone, don't want it to get crowded for my next trip.

Rode up to the Yukon and Alaska

1- Alaska Trip, 13 Days, 10,000 Km

2 - Start of trip
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1064048&l=c07e2&id=684041371

3 - Me at Mile 0, ... in the rain !
The Alaska Highway was constructed during World War II and connects the Continental U.S. to Alaska through Canada. It runs from Dawson Creek, British Columbia to Delta Junction, Alaska, via Whitehorse, Yukon.
The highway is mostly paved in Canada and all paved in Alaska. WTF !! I think someone needs to update the info on the web, ..... I'm pretty sure I was riding on multiple sections of 'other-than-pavement' between Burwash Landing and Tok !!

My Riding Buddies ; John's Wide Glide, Randy Diemert, & Gary Krivak at Mile 0, the start of the Alaska Highway, ... in the rian ! Of course we had to ride 850 Km to get there, and had another 75 Km to go to get to our first stop, a Hotel in Fort St. John, B.C.
The Alaska Highway (also known as the Alaskan Highway, Alaska-Canadian Highway, or ALCAN Highway)
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1064042&l=f561e&id=684041371

4 - Afternoon, Day 2, 1,550 Km into the trip. My Wide Glide at Muncho Lake, British Columbia.
Twelve kilometres of jade-colored water will tell you that you have reached Muncho Lake. Muncho Lake is located within Muncho Lake Provincial Park on the Alaska Highway, west of Toad River and south of Liard River. Muncho Lake displays a perpetually distinctive hue, the result of copper oxides leached from the bedrock.

5 - 3rd Day, approximately 2,100 Km. This is one long steel grate bridge, riding across that with a skinny ass front tire will keep your attention I'll tell you.
The Nisutlin Bay Bridge was completed in 1991, and is Teslin’s impressive metal span bridge. It is the longest bridge on the Alaska Highway, is two lanes wide and consists of seven through truss spans for a total length of 584 m (1916 ft.)

6 - Day 3, 1,755 Km into our 13 Day trip. Made it to the Yukon.
Yukon is the westernmost and smallest of Canada's three territories. It was named after the Yukon River, Yukon meaning "Great River" in Gwich’in.

7 - End of our 3rd Day, 2,270 Km into our trip, arrived in Whitehorse, Yukon, .... and yes, we had some sun :)
Whitehorse is located at Historic Mile 918 (current kilometrepost calibration is kilometre 1,425.3) of the Alaska Highway and is the former terminus of the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway from Skagway, Alaska (although the rails are still there, the train only goes as far as Carcross now). At the head of navigation on the Yukon River, the city was an important supply and stage centre during the Klondike Gold Rush. It has been the territorial capital since 1953[2], when the seat was moved from Dawson City after the construction of the Klondike Highway. Whitehorse is in the mountain climate region, the tundra soil region, the Arctic vegetation region, and the boreal cordillera ecozone. The city gets its name from the White Horse Rapids, which were said to look like the mane of a white horse. The rapids have disappeared under Schwatka Lake behind a hydroelectric dam, which was completed in 1958.

8 - Did I say we had rain, .... off & on for 11 days straight.
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1064051&l=85033&id=684041371

9 - Mid-day of Day 4, and 2,745 Km later, made it to Alaska.
English: Alaska: - Russian: Аляска Alyaska) is a sparsely populated state in the United States of America, in the northwest of the North American continent. It is the largest U.S. state by area (by a substantial margin), and one of the wealthiest (per capita).
The area that became Alaska was purchased from the Russian Empire on March 30, 1867, for 7.2 million dollars (at 2 cents per acre, about 5 ¢/ha) after Congress concluded its resources could be vitally important to the nation's future growth. The land went through several administrative changes before becoming an organized territory on May 11, 1912 and the 49th state of the U.S. on January 3, 1959.

10 - Late afternoon, still on the 4th Day, 3,062 Km into our trip, Randy's bike, Gary's bike, me and my Wide Glide at Mile 1,422, the Official End of the Alaska Highway, ... in the rain !
From Dawson Creek, the Alaska highway extends almost 968 km/595 miles to Lower Post where it enters the Yukon. The highway winds through the Yukon for about 885 km/550 miles and crosses into Alaska at mile 1221/km 1964. Continuing on to Delta Junction at mile 1422/km 2288, the end of the Alaska Highway.
The Alaska Highway joins the Richardson Highway for the remaining 98 miles/158 km to Fairbanks AK.

11 - Day 6, about 06:00 hrs in the morning, and approximately 4,090 Km into our trip, re-packing after our 02:00 hr camp-out in Glennallen, Alaska. Have to get back to Whitehorse, Yukon by this evening.
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1064053&l=1a4d3&id=684041371

12 - Taken in Burwash Landing, Yukon, Day 6, heading back South to Whitehorse, Yukon.
Look, it's a pack-hog !
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1064052&l=09060&id=684041371

13 - Me and my Wide Glide in the Yukon, taken by my friend and fellow Harley rider, Tim Nicholson
"Yea, Calgary is that way about 2,200 KM. The road gets worse from here "
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1466436&l=d1486&id=684041371

14 - This was taken early on the 7th Day of our trip, 4,950 Km of riding, and is what Calgary, Alberta to Fairbanks, Alaska, then Anchorage, Alaska, and back to Whitehorse, Yukon looks like :)
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1145305&l=60365&id=684041371

15 - I think there's chrome in there somewhere !! Close-up of my bike after 4,950 Km in 7 days riding.

well, since we just moved here in May it was our first summer in Northern California, besides the over 5 months without a drop of rain ( a real treat for us former NW peeps) we made several rides around lake Tahoe and expored many back roads here in the hills, with lots left over for years to come!

WideBoy04

From Ohio, this years rides included, PA. NY. VT. NH. ME. WV. VA. KY. TN. clipped AL.
and MS. Rode the Outer Banks starting in Rehoboth Beach ending in Emerald Isle. Also
visited Arlington and D.C. Highlights of the rides would be, The Adirondacks, Lake Placid,
Bar Harbour, Rye Beach, PA. mountains on Rt.6, mountains in WV. and VA. The east coast
ride down through the Outer Banks, Natchez Trace, and Land Between the Lakes KY.
Our North East trip didn't consist of too many highlights due to rain every day most of
the day, stopped raining 3 hrs. from home. Next year planning on stopping to smell the
roses a little more. Heading back out west, love it out there west of 25.

Spent a week riding the Smoky Mountains around Maggie Valley NC with a big group of friends. Best riding vacation I've had in a very long time

gtmalone

pales in comparison to some of you guys...

1,055 miles, 4 days - Dallas to Texarkana, Talimena, northwest AR (Fayetteville), Little Rock, Dallas.  First long distance trip for me ever.  Had scooters a long time ago, got back into it this year

700 round trip to visit a friend in south central AR (same guy as the trip above).  It's primarily his fault I got back into riding.

Talking pretty seriously on a 3500 mile trip next year up into CO, WY, MT, SD (beartooth, yellowstone, devils tower, rushmore).

Besides my wife, the scooter is the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Went with the owner of Northwest Motorcycle Tours, on a run through Montana. Spectacular ride, from Yellowstone to Glacier.

25 days, 7630.1 miles.  Left from MN, went down to CO and did Rocky Mountain National Park, rode up Mount Evans (highest paved road in North America), the top of the Rockies, over to four corners, then to AZ and the Grand Canyon, rode part of Route 66 in AZ, then Hoover Dam and Vegas in NV.  Was 116 F according to the radio when I pulled into Vegas.  Left out early the next morning and rode thru Death Valley after crossing into CA, stopped at Badwater (lowest dry spot in the world), down to Oceanside to visit with friends, up the Pacific Coast Highway (with a 10 hour detour near Big Sur for a forest fire), across the golden gate into Northern CA.  I have to say Hwy 1 between SF and 101 is in my opinion, the best motorcycle ride in the US.  Then on up into OR and then WA, couldn't ride up Mt. Rainer, was closed due to a late season snow storm (end of June) then visit friends in Seattle.  Headed over towards Glacier National Park and Going to the Sun highway but got smart and checked to find out that Going to the Sun highway was closed due to snow.  Headed down rt 12 into ID and then a trip thru the sawtooth range, then over the Craters of the Moon National Monument, visited with family and got new tires and the 45K service done in Idaho Falls.  Then up and thru the back way thru the Tetons and up into Yellowstone, then Beartooth highway and pass.  Got the first rain of the trip when the skies opened up right before I got to Red Lodge there in MT, so spent the night there.  Went back thru Beartooth in the morning and had a guy on a snowmobile pass me somewhere around 10-11,000 ft.  Did the Chief Joseph highway as I got back into WY then over to Bighorn National Forest.  Then up to I-90 and over to Spearfish, got soaked on Spearfish Canyon, found out that July 3rd is not the time to visit Mt. Rushmore, went over to Sturgis and then rode thru the Badlands on my way back to MN.  Pix are here: http://s321.photobucket.com/albums/nn361/1snorth/

It's without a doubt the best ride of my life and I have no idea how I'm going to top it, but I'm going to try.  In 09 I'm thinking of riding the east coast from FL to ME.

Memnar

5 days 4 nights riding around the Four Corners, New Mexico, AZ, Utah, Colorado.

I tell ya, hitting the Hot Springs and soaking is awesome after a day of riding and steak dinner.

I would recommend the hot springs in Glenwood Springs Colorado and Pagosa Colorado.

Just wear your sunglasses while at the springs, lots of women to look at!

Left MN on Aug. 1st.  went to sturgis for 2 days then up to Sheridan MT for the night. Then up to Billings MT to see a buddy that works at Bad Boys Cycles. Spent a day there, then down to Red Lodge for breakfast and through Bear Tooth pass. Spent the next night in yellowstone. Too many people. Then up though missuola MT and spent the night at Flat head lake.  The next day we went to Glacier National park for 3 days.  This place is awsome. oops I was going to keep that a secret.  Then we went east on hwy 2 accross the state to  Glascow MT.  Then down to Medora ND.  Then to Jamestown ND and home the next day.  13 days and 3,086 miles.  Back to work.  Work sucks.

Last Spring, the wife and I rode from Pa. to Virginia Beach,Outer Banks, down to Myrtle Beach for bike week. Put her on a airplane for home and went From there over to the Dragon and back to Pa.  Met up with a couple friends from another group at Gettysburg and Harper Ferry.
Last summer rode up to and around the New England states with a couple friends all the way to the Canadian Border. On the way back home rode to the top of Mt Washington. We got very lucky on that day, they told us it was the nicest day they had all year to that point. Which was allot better than our rain soaked trip to the top of Cadillac Mountain in Bar Harbor. Did a few shorter trips,11k+ miles and the year isn't over yet.
