The redesigned crankcase breather system of the VVT is designed with oil-separating baffles and filters.
It still uses the intake to create a negative vacuum pressure to help with excess pressure. The long vertical hose helps in separating the oil, too, to keep oil out of the intake.

The CheckM8 tranny breather is designed to compliment the stock head breather system of earlier models.
