A local guy banged a rock with his 2023 three wheel 114 M8.  It broke the plastic sensor body and died immediately so hopefully nothing travelled.  Of course the top 25% shattered from above the O ring groove and didn`t come out with the main body and wire harness because the magnet stuck in the hole. That was removed also but the plastic from around it did not come with it.

Has anyone had this happen and is there a reasonable way to retrieve the plastic shrapnel?  The pieces that were retrieved are not ground up and it is probably possible to reassemble them to confirm all chunks are found and present if they can be retrieved.  I'm hoping somebody has mastered a method to clear the case and it doesn't mean a full engine teardown.

I would take it apart.  All the pieces are going to be washed toward sump oil pick up hole.  I would also check insurance policy.

Yeah, I was thinking that if the pieces are as big and pristine as the ones already retrieved, it would be able too determine if all of the chunks are there. The trike is hanging from 2 chain blocks at the rear and can be tilted so the drain (mounting) hole is the low spot. using a varsol flush followed by a light oil was what we thought might work.  Choosing a point to add the fluid would be one issue as well as contaminating a lifter but finding a crumb of plastic plugging a piston cooler jet a week later has big consequences.

I never even considered insurance and will talk to him.  The bike is only a year old and I'll bet he does have collision on his policy. Thanks for the KISS solution.
