Looking to change my 07 streetglide for a new 2010 model, good move or not, does anyone have any bad news on the new bikes ?

Go for it.  I wish I were in the position to do it.

The only really bad news is the collector's full of catalyst.  And maybe if you think the 6-gallon tank looks a little too big.

The chassis doesn't ride quite as plush and some of the engine shake within it at idle is gone (why would they want to "fix" that?) but overall it's worlds better.  Much more sure-footed and stable.

And with the two extra "cogs" on the rear sprocket, as well as the IDS there (which you may or may not have retrofitted) the gearing is just about perfect and perfectly usable everywhere.  I think it's about 50 rpm more in the same situations.

I traded from an 07 Road King to an 09 Ultra.  Would do it again in a heartbeat.  Sooner, now that I "know".

I would say wait a while and see what 2011 brings. Also, they will want to clear out the 2010 then.

Yes the 2011s will be announced in less than two months so you may be in a better bargaining position then and who knows two months could bring out something new that you want and maybe even at the same price you are looking at.

:potstir: Let me be the first to say that the 2011 touring bikes are going to be liquid cooled! :hyst:
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

Here in th UK there is a good chance of it being 2.5% dearer shortly due to a rise in VAT. I would rather spend that extra on parts

A friend of mine just changed his 04 Road King for a 2101 Street Glide Charlie, he says it's much wider at the front of the saddle. All I can say is shop around and phone lots of dealers. I'm 35 miles east of London , got 6 dealers within 65 miles of me and there's usually up to £3500 difference on a bagger between them. For that sort of saving I'd travel a long way.

Oh!   I got the 2010RG and opted for the ABS.  I am not sold on it.  You pay extra for that and then they are a pain in the butt to work on.  I never had issues with stock brakes and think the money would be better spend on good tires.

Just my 2 cents.

Oh!   My ABS is slightly spongy on the first grab and then firms up.  Was told and I later verified this, that this is normal.

When I recently bought my 2010 Road Glide (same bike as the Street Glide but with the RG Fairing), I called all (but one) of the local dealers and asked for faxed quotes. Made the deal with the one that was the most aggressive and wanted the business.

So far the bike is still stock. I'm pretty impressed with the performance as-is, although the bike gets  too hot for my likes. Gearing, handling, braking are all much improved over the 07.

The stock shocks don't cut it on any but the smoothest roads. I have the 440's from my 07 to put on when I get a chance.

tell me more about the shocks.  I have stock shocks with a Mustang seat.  The back sits too high for me and am wondering how to drop the back.

Done the deal and pick up my new 2010 Streetglide in 2 weeks, stuck with my local (70 miles away) dealer as they have always looked after me, since my first HD 14 years ago, they collected and returned my 06 Buell for no charge when it wouldn`t start, and giving me a good deal on this bike. Other dealers I have spoken to on the phone don`t seem enthusiastic enough to want to deal. Just need to decide which parts to get fitted, leaning towards SE high flow air filter and Vance and Hines Widow pipes.
