I'm thinking about getting a rivera pro clutch for my fxr cause not really happy with the old shovel clutch. My brother in law was tellling me about a 85 fxr that was getting parted out and I was thinking if I bought the trans and clutch I would have the evo clutch setup. Is it worth considering for 300.00 or going with the Rivera clutch for 500?

The 85 FXR that you'll be getting the parts from will still be basically the same as what you have. It's the tapered transmission main shaft and it will have a diaphram clutch. While they were more user friendly than the old tractor clutches we are used to they were prone to the towers breaking off inside the hub.
I'd say pass if you really want to up grade. Keep looking for a 90-99 tranny.
