2007 FLHTCUI. I'm replacing the factory tour pak lights with the LED kit from the MoCo. After spending several hours removing the OEM lights and judicious amount of adhesive and sealant, I was now ready to install my new lights. As I was tightening down the nuts on the metal corner brackets (which don't fit properly and caused this whole mess in the first place), the tension eased so I figured the bolt was beginning to spin in the housing. This happened to 3 of the 4 nut/bolts. After I finished tightening everything I noticed one of the lights was a little crooked. When I pushed on it I noticed it was very loose. As it turns out the MoCo didn't use "capture" bolts on it like they did on the oem unit. These are just studs with self tapping threads that pretty much just screw into the plastic leaving a stud for a nut to go on. I ended up getting some plastic epoxy and basically "glueing" them back into the housing. Of course I had to remove everything to repair this.
So now I've got the new light mounted, wired and tested. They work great and I guess I'm happy with the end result as far as the light and function goes. I am a little disappointed with the flat black finish on the housing though and actually considered having it painted a gloss black or Vivid Black but didn't want to wait. Maybe this winter....
So now I wonder what to do with the leftover factory wiring and 2 sockets that went to the 2 tail/brake lights on the original housing. They aren't used with the new unit and there is no way to unplug them, as they are hard wired into the wiring for the side marker lights. When I pulled the bulbs and tested the new lights, everything seemed ok. Can I just physically cut the wires and take them out, or will that cause some kind of sensor to go off and throw a malfunction code? There is no mention of this in the installation instructions....

FWIW, A friend of mine had the HD LED tour pack lights put on his bike the day he bought it by the dealer, They are not HD and can be had on ebay for like $135.00 shipped.

Look on ebay, see if what you bought matches the ones on there.

Great! So on top of all that, I paid 3 times the price....  :emoGroan:

Maybe not, but my buddy got ebay lights on his, right from the dealer. He assumed his were HD as well.

Right now I'm a little more concerned with what to do about the old lamp sockets. I don't see any solution other than cutting them out.... I just don't want to do that and cause a problem. Then I would have to wire them back in again and try to figure out how to put the liner back in with them in the way.....

Ok so I just wire tied them to the antenna cable on each side for now. I would like to know if I can cut them out though. I just know at some point in the future I'm gonna start hearing a rattle and by then I will have forgotten all about those damn things and I'll be chasing the damn rattle forever.  :emoGroan:

I'd pull out the bulbs and if all works ok, then I'd cut the leads and insulate the ends with heat shrink.

Yeah, that's what I want to do. I've got the bulbs out and everything seems okay. I've got it back together for now without the bulbs and will ride it a while to see if everything is okay. Maybe I'll wait a little longer for someone to post who has cut them out to post their experience....

I bought a set of JP Cycles LED light set for the tour-Pak when in Daytona last April. Didn't come with any instructions but, I'm assuming it will be a similar hook-up as the HD kit.  Hopefully I can download the pages.

I don't think it's similar. From what I saw on the J&P site, they are replacements for the bulbs in the existing tour pack. The MoCo kit replaces the entire stock wrap around lights on the tour pack. It is the same one that comes stock on the SE Ultra...

Ok, so I was washing the bike yesterday since I was caught in a downpour last Sunday and it was just plain filthy and found 2 things wrong. The first was a missing windshield bolt but I kinda knew I had some issues there, I just didn't want to F with it but now I have to. I noticed the last time I pulled the windshield off,a couple of the inserts for the windshield screws have come loose. I bought the replacements about a month ago so I had them on hand and made the repair. In hind sight, if I had done it when I first noticed the problem, I wouldn't need to make the trip to the dealer to get a repplacement bolt.  The other thing I noticed was the antenna on the right side of the new LED tour pack light is loose. I pulled the liner out of the tour pack and found the threaded stud that holds the wire from the radio and makes the electrical connection has broken off and is now stuck inside the LED housing. I guess now I've got to again pull the damn light off and see if I can get to the broken stud and maybe replace it with a better bolt. I think maybe I'll go ahead and buy another light assembly from the dealer, and if I can't fix the old one, at least I'll have a backup to install. If I do manage to fix the old one I can always bring the other one back, still sealed. Either way, it's a beautiful day here today and I'm stuck fixing something instead of riding today as I had originally planned... Not only that, but now I'm gonna have to drive the truck to the dealer.... :banghead:  :emoGroan:
