Looking for an upgrade to my Woods 408-6. I want something that has the same torque curve with more horses, that is easier on the valve train.

splitting_lanes

Upgrade the heads.  Tough to beat that cams torque curve.

Could try the T man 625, very similar cam, although I'm not sure it'll get you what you want. What size motor and compression do you have and what are the numbers you have now for hp & tq ?

Used that 408, and the 400 many times.

woods 400-6 with heads that flow 300 @ 28"  will get both and do it early, just see Hillside, keep the 408 advance it 4. and get the heads and retune,  what have you done to the valve train to make it happy?  Ive looked for another cam for more trq, with lighter valve train issues, I keep coming back and stay with the 400-6, used it in my 107 and kept it in the new 117

Nothing wrong with trying a different cam but the when all else is right the 408 produces more hp than tq. I doubt the cam is the hold up.
What intake, what exhaust.

Did you ask your head porter? He would know best.

SE 58mms with the runners opened up to 1.8". Fat Cat with concentric baffle.

They are not the hold up either.
There is plenty of sheets in the dyno section making good power with all the above mentioned parts.

That's pipe and baffle is too small . That's why it makes more tq than hp.
Some would kill for that early tq though .
Either a big bore baffle or upgrade to a zilla , if your a d&d guy

If Jim says the baffle is to small I would start there first. I did not catch that, I just know I have seen a few Fat Cat pipes (not sure which baffle) in the high 120's to mid 130's on smaller motors that is why I did not think it a hold up here. There is a 97" in the dyno section with a smaller TB, 408 cam and Fat Cat that made 127hp

The concentric baffle is to small .
Head pipe could stay .

What id for a baffle am I looking for? I was looking at installing a supertrapp baffle into my D&D can and was wondering which one would work.  Looking for something "quiet".

hdrider

Do you want quiet or HP.  Take your pick.  The concentric baffle is for unmodified bikes that want to listen to the radio.

1FSTRK

You do not say what model bike you have.
If it can use a bagger dual muffler exhaust there are a couple options but you will pay for quiet power.

Bob Wood told me that the 408-6 cam is not a big HP cam...Early hard hitting torque and that's it. Big Bore Baffle is 2.5 and LOUD! But I personally like LOUD and don't need or want a stinking radio.

What will keep the torque and up the horsepower?

1FSTRK

The 1.03hp/ci he is making is not big hp. Neither is 1.2 and that would put him at 148.8hp. The TW408 with proper heads and a real good exhaust will do that.

Im just telling you what Bob told me... no pissing match here!

What year and model bike ?
The fuel moto e - pipe is gonna be quiet .
Not sure what models they have ready .
Several x pipe 2-1-2' s that work really nice .
I would like to see that curve ,You have a dyno sheet ?

'08 FLHX. I'll see if I can find the sheet and post it.

08 has the better headpipes. big bore baffle would be the cheapest
but the zilla with QB is better for a 124.
the big bore baffle for the fatcat is the same as the bozrzilla QB. you just get a bigger head pipe with the zilla.
they are not quiet .but i toured with a zilla for a while.
I use helmet speakers and wear a helmet all the time. :nix:
