I need to ask whats one to do? Got a 240/18 inch rear spoke wheel. Bought it for a guy who needed one. Seems now his stock wheel is a 3/4 axle and the wheel in question is 1 inch axle. ( a Titan hardtail). So i ask is there a combo of stuff that will fit to make this wheel 3/4 or is some machining needed? Brand new wheel.. Thanks Karl  :potstir:

Change out the bearings  to 3/4" or the axle & related parts to 1".

koko3052, That was tried but this wheel is wide that it needs three bearing in the hub. It was taken to a shop and when they tried to install 3/4 bearing races they wouldn't fit.(races not large enough for hub). Its a Milwaukee twins rim..So the wheel just sits. Any other thoughts from others would be appreciated...

Vulcan (Motorway Engineering) makes spacers/adapters to go from 1" to 3/4" axle. They might work.   http://vulcanworks.net/store_4/product.php?productid=17222&cat=3&page=1

Sounds like this hub may be for Timken bearings! If not then find the correct 3/4" sealed bearing. I have swapped many 3/4" & 1" sealed bearings in the same bore.

#1- If a sealed bearing then a sleeve has to be made to press into the bore of the wheel to downsize it. Also will have to bore deeper to get the second bearing installed, but may not be able to depending on how the hub is made.
#2- Make a sleeve/spacers for the 3/4" axle & use the 1" bearings.
#3- Change or bore the components he now has to 1" & use the 1" axle.
#4- Flea Bay it & get the right wheel! :kick:

:pop:2 good thoughts there. Yes I thought to have a new and correct size hub, relaced. But i sold wheel to a bud. He got it wrong when i asked him about axle size. But the adapter spacers might be the ticket. My buddy went out and got a tube(240) for the old wheel. I guess $200 bucks for a 80 soke 240x18x8.5 width rim wasn't what he should of ask to get for him in the first place? Thank you guys...Karl

:sheep: Okay so I went looking thru many of old posts here, And even  :emoGroan: google it. And WaLaha..From 2009 post here. Seems when MoCo ran the 1 inch sealed bearing sometime since 2000 and then a change in somewhere around 06,when MoCo installed 3/4 sealed bearing in wheels the outside diameter is same as 1 inch. Thanks guys..
