Timing vs engine temp........ new monitor gauges

sprocket99

Thanks, Jim. I wonder why Zippers doesn't notify about these updates, I know they have me in the system since I get email promos. Should I take this personally?

Absolutely. :hyst:

thanks Jim.   That's their second up date in the last two months or so, glad to see they are working on improving an already pretty good system.

James told me there was a hidden table for the timing/temp correction when I talked to him back in the spring.  When I asked why that wasn't available for us to adjust, he said that they weren't sure it was a good idea for us to have access to that.  I'm glad they are giving us access to it now, since not having access to that... but having access to other fuel timing tables seemed silly.

I had to order some flanges from the for my TB and they told me that an update was coming. I wish they would supply some documentation that explains the update beside the bug fixes.

Does/will this software update change the maps already used and/or modified by the user?  Simply asked, will I need to start over on the tune I have already?  Thanks in advance.

I was able to open my existing tune just fine, and I started that tune three years ago.

Do you have a link for this latest update?

you can find it here:
http://thunder-max.com/Support/Instructions/FuelInjectionSoftware.aspx

or you can update by going through the existing software:

here's an interesting new available gauge:

I might do a data recording today, just to try that gauge out.   :teeth:

I did a data recording yesterday, and I like the new MAP gauge.  That's going to help when dialing in timing.  Here's a screen shot of the gauge in action:

that auto-tune module with those broad band o2 sensors seems to have the afr dialed in pretty good too.   :teeth:

I agree. That MAP gauge will make timing easier. That tape crap just don't cut it. Timing/Temp is another nice feature. Back in the day I ran a cold and hot cal for timing and this should solve that need.

Mayor & Ron,
I used the new replacement map # and changed the timing to match the replaced # went on our Sunday ride (track attached) 297 miles of twisty roads at 7hr 45min actual riding time. Burned 7 gal. The bike seems quicker, but the temp was in the mid 50s.

Why the map gauge if Tmax is alfa "N" - TP only?
Mayor, How did you get green in your gauges, is there something I should be setting?

TIA,
Al

just another tuning tool.  eventhough the system does not use MAP, having access to what the MAP is will help in setting the timing. This will help the tuner determine at what point the particular bike reaches maximum MAP so that they can adjust the timing points accordingly.  This will also help determine the light load timing, since the load on the engine can now be seen....relative to the throttle position.

The green in the boxes means that the readings for those boxes are within the median range for that gauge.  The afr gauge is green because the actual afr readings are well within the deviation from the set afr.  Usually when you see the orange color on engine speed, the reading is in a transition from one rpm map to another (meaning on the higher or lower side of a particular rpm chart).

Operational range settings if I remember correctly effect where the green zone appears as well.

You could always go with the DTT which uses MAP for timing...

:)

yea, but there doesn't seem to be much love for that system on this site.   :nix:  don't know why, either people aren't using it......or they aren't comfortable discussing it in the open.  In fact, you were probably the last person who brought it up, about a year ago.  :teeth:

I don't know why it's not more popular.  When I was surveying the landscape I compared the softwares between the two and found the DTT much more to my liking, and that's certainly a factor in my book.  Maybe folks are moving on to the electronic throttle control and DTT doesn't want to go that direction?

Must be why people still buy the SESPT.   :fish:

The only folks I know who "buy" SESPTs are those who are unaware of a better product or, more likely, were "sold" the product.  :fish:
