I recently installed the Harley 12 volt power port on the handle bar of my 2017 Sportster 1200 Custom.  It works great for my phone, GPS, etc.

I was wondering if I can charge the battery with my battery tender using this power port.

Any body done this already ?

The Battery Tender End is only $6.99 - If you can't find any I have about 20 or so. As for Charging it with the Power-port? Does it only operate with the Ignition Key on? I would not use a 16AWG for that. But, perhaps it will work.

Thanks for the response Tom.  Yes ignition must be on.

I need to do a little more research.

If ignition must be on to power the plug, you won't be able to use it for charging.
Pick up a Tender plug, wire it onto the battery, and you're good to go.
If the government gives you everything you want,
it can take everything you have.
