I have the same bike, same pipes, stage 1.
Yes runs hot. When I got it it idled about 850 rpm.
After stage 1 idle is about 950 rpm. Adds to the heat.
Bigger motor, bigger heat!
Hot days it is like a sauna!

Tuning With PV I would data log a run so that I knew the actual temperatures. A base line would be good to have for reference when trying to make changes to lower them.

They're also pretty high compression, so that adds heat as well.

And catalytic converter do not help.

Don't think there is a cat on these bikes. Couldn't find one on the exhaust breakdown.

This is the description in the parts manuals.

Yes, there would have to be.

The catalytic converters are in the mufflers on the softails.

I didn't know that. That makes it a whole lot easier to remove them.
But, does that mean that the Street Cannons sold by HD would have to have cats in them? The EPA would not allow HD to sell a product that bypasses the emissions.

That surprises me. When I looked at the exhaust info at the dealer, the breakdown didn't indicate a cat in the muffler.
When I looked into the stock muffler I thought it was just a baffle. Must be the cat.
I also looked into the Street Cannons.
What I read, they pretty loud. Doubt there is a cat in them.

From the HD lit on Street Cannons
"Tuned baffles work with the internal high-flow catalyst to strike the perfect balance required to deliver performance"
So, the cats are in the mufflers.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

I just keep learning here.

Must be the 114. I've had two M8 107's in Softails and they are way cooler than the TC 103's were. No serious heat but only rode to 80F.

the only new Softail(18-19) that has the cat in the header is the Fatbob, the rest of them are in the mufflers

I've always been told that overlap helps with the heat some (like gas cools a 2 stroke)...on a 2017 anyway, the 107 and 114 is said to carry the same cam. -14 exhaust close and -07 intake open give you what overlap?
 Good for EPA!

Though I've noticed Andrews doesn't run much more than 0 to 2deg overlap...
Eliminate the Imperfections of mass production!

Im going to install cam s&s pump & cam plate & remote oil filter not sure on what cam yet hopefully  this will reduce heat Butch
